FOLK ART

We are continuing with dogs as our main subject, and why not?!…who doesn’t like a dog! 🙂
Looking into the decorative aspects of the Folk Art and trying to be creative with it, so some are more “bling” then others. Lots of colour, lots of patterns, and lots of talking, so some are more finished than others…I say, it is all a part of the creative process and the results are beautiful!

SCRIBBLE & GESTURE

Last week we were looking at the ‘Scribble & Gesture’ style of drawing while peeking at some work of an artist Alberto Giacometti, and initial sketches of an architect Frank Gehry.  I love kids reaction to it …”what’s that, that’s not a good drawing! We can do that!” … yes of course you can, so let’s do it!!!!

And here they are, some fab, expressive and energetic drawings of dogs and occasional dog poo…bravoooo! 🙂

ILLUSTRATION – BIRD

We were inspired by the bird illustrations I found on the Internet, unfortunately and sadly I have forgotten the name of this brilliant illustrator 🙁 … but maybe by seeing the kids work somebody might recognize and remember the artist’s name. Fingers crossed 🙂

MONOCHROMATIC LANDSCAPE

How to mix colors on the palette, how to navigate your small working area, how to tell a story through the picture,  how to create an illusion of space by using shades and tints…and how to share some school gossip while producing some fine work. This is how they do it!

MASK SHIELD – PAPIER MACHE, CARDBOARD

This project is our last one this school year. We are glittered to our little eyeballs LOL. My lovely friend Mekette started it and today we finished it. Thank you all lovely artists for the effort, creativity, patience, and willingness. I hope to see you all soon. Have a lovely Summer Holidays and don’t forget to cream! 🙂 X IMG_8743 IMG_8744 IMG_8745 IMG_8746 IMG_8747 IMG_8748 IMG_8752 IMG_8754

STILL LIFE – LITTLE BIT OF SUMMER

Silly set up, super hot day and lots of enthusiasm so kids produced these great observational drawings!!!!  Beautiful pencil drawings that will be turned into something else next week…not sure yet what and how but will keep you posted 🙂 x IMG_8613IMG_8604 IMG_8605 IMG_8606 IMG_8607 IMG_8608 IMG_8609 IMG_8610 IMG_8611 IMG_8612 IMG_8614
